Collection of original lithographic song-sheet covers
Paris: C. Joubert, ca. 1895. 8 folio leaves. Remnants of mounting tape at upper margins; discreet owner's stamps on reverse of each; small chip to one corner; a very well-preserved group. Item #207853
Toulouse-Lautrec produced a series of fourteen original covers to illustrate song with music by Desiré Dihau and lyrics by Jean Richepin. The pictures soon proved more popular than the songs and the publisher began to sell them separately without the sheet music. Later, after the artist's death, they would be reprinted on higher quallity paper and sold as a portfolio. This group comprises:
