Untitled; Real Photo Postcard
New York: Société Anonyme, n.d. (ca. 1920). Gelatin silver print on cardstock, 3-1/2 x 5-3/8 in. with printed rules and printer logo on reverse. Very good. Item #207836
Rare real photo postcard showing an untitled abstraction by Schwitters, likeley photographed by Man Ray. The card dates from the earliest period of Katherine Dreier's Société Anonyme when it was housed in two rooms at 19 E. 47th Street in New York. Dreier founded the Société Anonyme along with Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray with the aim of promoting modern art -- she added "Museum of Modern Art" to the name but that was ultimately usurped by the somewhat later institution founded in 1929 by the well-financed Alfred Barr.
