After pioneering avant-garde collage art and abstraction in the early years of the twentieth century, Schwitters founded a graphic design firm called Merzwerbe which did designs for the Bahlsen company, manufacturer of popular cookies and biscuits. The three cards here feature Schwitters's Bauhaus-style design, each with a different photograph on the front side of the Bahlsen factor, two exterior views and an interior view of the almost entirely female work forces packaging the biscuits into their boxes.
