H. Solomon & Steve Balkin Present: World Theatre; Cafe Au Go Go Mondays

New York: Cafe Au Go Go, (1965). Printed handbill, 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 in. Fine. Item #207833

The Greenwich Village club Cafe Au Go Go was known as a locus of the folk revival and the rock scene of the 1960s -- and the site of Lenny Bruce's infamous sets that landed him in jail on obscenity charges. But it also hosted avant garde performances and Happenings. This leaflet announces the extraordinary series of Mondays in October 1965 featuring "experimental music & dance & theatre works" by artists including Andy Warhol, Dick Higgins, Yoko Ono, Diter Rot, Christo, Nam June Paik, Wolf Vostell, Charlotte Moorman, and Alison Knowles. An excellent, unblemished copy.
