In this copy, the frontispiece has been signed by the photographer Walker Evans. Additionally, an original print of Evans's portrait of Crane used in Liveright's publicity is pasted to the half-title. The front flyleaf bears a presentation inscription by Crane's mother to a noted early Crane scholar: "Best wishes to John H. Birss from Grace Hart Crane, August 6/34." Also pasted in is a handwritten Christmas card from Grace Hart Crane to John Birss, and two small newspaper clippings referring to Crane; loosely inserted are another Christmas Card from Grace Hart Crane, a typed letters signed from Samuel Loveman to John H. Birss, and a carbon of Birss's letter to Loveman in reply.
