Journées du Cinéma de Carcassonne

Carcassonne: Comite des Fetes, n.d. (1951). 8vo, unpag. pamphlet in printed wrappers, stapled. Discreet ownership stamps internally; fine. Item #206202

Printed program from the first iteration of this festival, intended as a popular event for regular filmgoers rather than the specialized elite sort of festival represented by Cannes. Includes a preface by (and photographic portrait of) Jean Cocteau, who was president of the Association des amis du Cinéma, de la Radio et de la Télévision, which sponsored the event. The program included premieres of Jean Tedesco's "Napoleon" and Gilbert de Daunant's short film "Anone"; the Czech puppet-animation "Prince Bayaya" shown for the first time in France, as well as acknowledged classics such as Eisenstein's "Alexander Newski." With the neat ownership stamp of noted French cinema collector Gérard Troussier.

Price: $45.00
