Paris: Francinex, n.d. (1946?). Invitation card printed on four sides of a bifolium, approx. 4-1/4 X 5-1/2 in. A trifle marked; corners rubbed; close to fine. Item #206087
Invitation to what appears to be an advance screening of Bernard's film "Un Ami Viendra Ce Soir" (A Friend Will Come Tonight), an ambitious drama involving a group of French resistance fighters hiding out in a hospital disguised as patients. The invitation is for a screening at the Cinéma Madeleine with the date given only as "Mardi 19 Février," a day that agrees with the calendar for 1946 when the film was released. The official release date was in April. The film was adapted from a play by Jacques Companez and Yvan Noé, who worked with Bernard on the screenplay, with music by Arthur Honegger.
