Autobiographical novel, written ten years before Day's conversion to Catholicism, while she was immersed in the bohemian life of Greenwich Village, and based on her ill-fated love affair that ended with an abortion. Day would disown the book in later years, and she is believed to have attempted to reclaim copies of it in order to burn them. It remains very scarce.
