Uncommon first printing -- later printings are frequently offered as firsts -- of this finely produced picture book celebrating the life and reign of Louis XIV. The book is distinguished by Leloir's fine illustrations, printed in chromotypogravure. Leloir was a successful illustrator, best known for his illustrations to Dumas's Three Musketeers, which inspired Douglas Fairbanks to bring Leloir to Hollywood as artistic consultant o his 1928 film of The Man in the Iron Mask.
