Los Angeles: Songmakers, Inc., August, 1965. 4to, 11 mimeographed leaves, 8-12/ x 11 in., printed on both sides, stapled. Very Good. Item #206867

Songmakers had its roots in the informal musical gatherings in Griffith Park in the 1940s. The Almanac was conceived as a west coast cousin of Pete Seeger's People's Songs and has proved far more durable, surviving to this day as "The Bard Chord." This issue contains an articles on "creative plagiarism," reviews, comments, songs, and cartoons, with a feature on José Marti reprinted from a Pan American Union publication of 1964. The cover drawing is a portrait of Odetta.
