Songmakers Almanac; Vol. IV, No. 7

Los Angeles: Songmakers, Inc., July, 1965. 4to, nine mimeographed leaves, 8-1/2 x 11 in., printed on both sides, stapled. Very Good. Item #206866

Songmakers had its roots in the informal musical gatherings in Griffith Park in the 1940s. The Almanac was conceived as a west coast cousin of Pete Seeger's People's Songs and has proved far more durable, surviving to this day as "The Bard Chord." This issue contains an article on The Ash Grove, the now legendary LA music club then marking its seventh anniversary, along with songs, notes and comments on local musical activities and appearances, letters from readers, and cartoons.
