Painted Veils
New York: Horace Liveright, 1928. 8vo, 310pp; cream-colored cloth. Dampstain affecting much of the lower portion of the cover and pages, though not really visible on the dust jacket; otherwise a very good copy in the original, unclipped, pictorial dust jacket. Item #206402
One of 2300 numbered copies in the edition (#1975), numbered both on the colophon and dust jacket. One of Liveright's most popular publications in its time, Painted Veils went through several editions, starting in 1920. This edition is most sought-after for its dust jacket, an art-deco masterpiece by Paul Wenck that also features a blurb by H.L. Mencken on the rear panel.
