Rome: March 18, 1961. Approx. 4 X 5-3/4 in. picture postcard with a reproduction of a painting of Rome's Spanish Steps, executed in Toklas's had in ink on one side; in mailing envelope addressed partly by hand and partly by collaging torn pieces from an envelope from the recipient. Item #206372
The nearly 84-year old Toklas writes in a shaky hand conveying thanks for a received letter and regret at not being able to meet in New York: "It is most unlikely that at my age I shall undertake the long and fatiguing voyage. Cordially, A.B. Toklas"
