Third (first 12mo) edition/First edition. 12mo, [198], [61] unpag. leaves in contemporary brown morocco tooled in blind and gilt with dentelles, blue moire endpapers; a.e.g. Inner front hinges with rather unfortunate old tape mending; two small bookseller catalog descriptions tipped in at rear and previous owner's note tipped neatly to a preliminary blank; neat bookplate and three owner's signatures. A bit of damage to the crown, where the book seems to have been pulled roughly from a shelf; hinges and edges rubbed. Item #206328

This copy of Baskerville's first 12mo edition of the Book of Common Prayer derives from the noted library of the great California collector and writer Olive Percival, with her small bookplate affixed to the inside front cover and her 1928 ownership inscription on the first blank leaf. Ownership signatures of the subsequent (1945) and previous (1878) are also present. Gaskell 21, 22.
