A delightful example of one of Uelsmann's more lighthearted and humorous darkroom manipulations, showing a leafless tree growing of of a massive hamburger (on a bun, with tomato). On the verso, Uelsmann has signed, titled, and dated the picture, with an inscription presenting it to poet Russell Edson. Edson and Uelsmann collaborated on the photographer's 1971 Aperture monograph, in which Uelsmann's composite images were accompanied by Edson's enigmatic prose-poems. In his inscription, Uelsmann writes: "Dear Russell Edson, My images feel nice next to your words. . ."
