Ross's profile of Hemingway first appeared in The New Yorker in 1950. This edition was published in the aftermath of his suicide. Ross gave this copy to fellow New Yorker writer Joseph Mitchell and there is small gift card inscribed and signed by Ross, loosely inserted in an envelope addressed to Mitchell.
