The poet's first book, inscribed -- though not signed -- by Bobrowski: "zum bleibenden Gedächtnis" beneath an ink drawing of a standing figure that occupies the entire upper left quadrant of the title page. The unnamed recipient was the poet Christopher Middleton, the pre-eminent English translator from German of his generation.
