Spreading Germs of Hate; With a Foreword by Colonel Edward M. House.

New York: Horace Liveright, 1930. First edition. 8vo, 327pp; pale gray cloth stamped in black. Near fine in a lightly used dust jacket, a bit frayed at the edges and spine ends. Item #205650

The author, who was a pro-German propagandist during the First World War (he would later become an American defender of Hitler), writes a lengthy account of allied anti-German propaganda. The author of the foreword had been a principal foreign policy advisor to President Woodrow Wilson. The title"Colonel" was an affectation; House never held any military rank. An uncommon book, with a splashy dust jacket design by Maurer.
