Mailer's account of the infamous heavyweight bout between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in Kinshasa, Zaire (now Democratic Republic of Congo), here in a presentation copy, inscribed by Mailer in red ink on the front endpaper: "To Jean, Gee we're looking good, Cheers, Norman, July '75". The recipient was the radio producer, Jazz aficionado, and documentarian Jean Bach, a regular presence in New York literary circles of the time.
