Fully illustrated and graphically electric officlal program of the 1959 Venice FIlm Festival, which included such notable features as Billy Wilder's "Some Like It Hot" and Otto Preminger's "Anatomy of a Murder" alongside films by Claude Chabrol, Ingmar Bergman, Juan Antonio Bardem, and the grand prize winner "Il Generale della Rovere" by Roberto Rosselini. The full-page color printed ads in the rear comprise an excellent mini-exhibition of Italian graphic design at mid-century. This copy belonged to the American filmmaker and editor Sidney Meyers, whose "The Savage Eye" was shown at the festival. Laid in at the front is a letter to Meyers from the festival's secretary confirming his nomination to be on the jury of the following year's festival.
