Wiesenthal's first book, published in the year after his liberation from the concentration camp at Mauthausen, Austria and filled with his texts and pictures recounting the experience of the camp. Mauthausen was the fifth camp where Wiesenthal was incarcerated. An architect by training, he devoted the rest of his life to keeping the memory of the Holocaust alive and to hunting down and prosecuting surviving Nazi perpetrators.
