Rain:; A Play in Three Acts. Founded on W. Somerset Maugham's Story "Miss Thompson".

New York: Boni and Liveright, (1923). First edition. 8vo, 236pp; blue cloth with printed spine label. Endsheets toned; spine label mottled from jacket, else fine in a price-clipped dust jacket with a spot of abrasion on the spine that has affected the last letter of the title and a number of neatly tape-mended tears, still quite handsome. Item #205121

An attractive copy, despite the stated flaws, highly uncommon in jacket. A popular play, "Rain" was adapted for cinema three times, most notably in Lewis Milestone's 1932 film starring Joan Crawford and Walter Huston. An earlier silent version starred Gloria Swanson and a 1953 remake featured Rita Hayworth.
