Calligraphic manuscript by the LA Beat poet of his poem originally written in 1960. This fair copy was done especially for fellow poet Wanda Coleman, who would become known as the Poet Laureate of Los Angeles. A large man, well over six feet tall and weighing over 300 pounds, Thomas was a well-known and gregarious presence in the Venice poetry scene of the 1960s and 70s. This is a unique and attractive manuscript, beautifully executed, and with a superb association linking two key figures of the literary life of Los Angeles.
