The well-known critic's first book of poems, this collection was printed by Walter L. Goodwin Jr. and Bruce Gentry at the Rydal Press in Santa Fe, New Mexico. this copy has been inscribed by Blackmur on the front endpaper: "For Arlene Erlanger, with much pleasure in the opportunity and especially in the provision for it, Richard Blackmur, 20 December '47." Beneath this is a second, unidentified inscription in another hand, making wry reference to Blackmur's inscription.
