Each print has been signed by Lewis in pencil. The complete series of images that he executed for the 1927 illustrated edition of Satyricon published by Pascal Covici. The prints well demonstrate Lewis's mastery of the wood engraver's craft. A respected illustrator and engraver, Lewis attracted the attention of no less discerning an eye than Alfred Stieglitz, who showed his work at his famous 291 Gallery in New York.
