Depression-era sexist humor in the form of an epistolary novel. The author, an itinerant scribbler and sometime actor, became a Coughlinite propagandist and backer of Hitler. He was indicted for treason for wartime broadcasts he made in Germany in a court case along with several co-defendants, including the poet Ezra Pound. While Pound would spend years incarcerated in a psychiatric hospital, the charges against Delaney were dropped for insufficient evidence.
